Marriage License Information
A marriage license can be obtained from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. No appointment is necessary. The office is closed on weekends, legal holidays, and the day after Thanksgiving. The Probate Section is located in the Logan County Courthouse, 101 S. Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. The following requirements must be met in order to obtain a marriage license in Logan County:
Ohio law requires that Ohio residents who wish to be married in the state of Ohio and apply for a marriage license must do so in the county where at least one of the applicants reside.
Out of state residents may apply for a marriage license in Logan County providing the marriage ceremony takes place in Logan County.
Blood tests are no longer required in Ohio.
If an applicant does not speak or understand English, a translator must be present at the time of the marriage application. Arrangements can be made by contacting a Probate clerk at (937) 599-7252. Proper translation of any foreign document must also be provided.
A Certified Copy of the Marriage Record after the Marriage Certificate has been received by the Probate Section. The fee for a Certified Copy is $2.00.

- Both applicants must be present at the same time when making application;
- Both applicants must be at least 18 years of age (applicants under 18 years of age should contact the Probate Section at (937) 599-7252);
- Both applicants must have valid identification such as an unexpired driver’s license or State ID card, a certified copy of birth certificate, a passport, or a Military ID;
- Both applicants must provide social security numbers;
- Any applicant that has been married previously must provide a certified copy of the most recent divorce or dissolution, which must include the signature of the Judge and the Court seal;
- If the applicant is a widow/widower, a certified copy of the Death Certificate listing applicant as surviving spouse must be provided;
- The cost of a marriage license is $55.00. Payment can be made in cash or with a debit/credit card.
