The current Logan County Jail was opened to serve our community on November 18, 2000. The 8.5 million dollar, 45,000 square foot facility can accommodate up to 140 inmates. The facility is equipped with state of the art technology and employs state certified corrections officers and deputies.
History
In November 2000 the county jail moved from its prior location at in Bellefontaine to its current location at 284 County Road 32 S.

The 16,000-square-foot facility housed 34 inmates and had been in operation since 1983. Prior to 1983 the Logan County Jail was located in Bellefontaine, which is now the parking lot for the current Juvenile Detention Center. Built in 1845, the 2-story structure housed up to 17 inmates.
Operations
The Ohio Revised code requires the county sheriff to operate the jail. All operations, programming and afforded rights to inmates are regulated by the State of Ohio Department of Corrections.
Programs & Services
The Logan County Jail offers a wide variety of programs and services to inmates including recreations, commissary, mail service, work release, visitation, religious services and GED classes. Additionally, both group and individual mental health and drug / alcohol counseling services are offered. The Logan County Jail medical staff also provides health services to incarcerated inmates.
The Logan County Jail staff also provides numerous services to the public. The corrections division performs services including concealed carry permits and renewals, background checks and fingerprinting services.
Inmate Visitation
When inmates are booked into the Logan County Jail they may list up to 3 individuals that are permitted to visit them during their incarceration. Inmates may modify their approved visitation list every 15 days. Visitors must be on the inmate’s visitation list. Visitors cannot be on probation, parole or be a registered sex offender. No visitors under the age of 18 will be permitted to visit unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
